Wicklow Wasps set for first ever indoor battle!

-

SOUTH AFRICAN franchise, Pro Series Indoor (PSi), has recently expanded to Ireland with the opening of nine franchises located around the country, including Kildare, Dublin, Kilkenny, Belfast, Limerick and right here in Bray with the Wicklow Wasps.

Since 2006, the PSi revolution has brought together over 10,000 hockey players and has brought the fast, fun and exciting nature of the indoor game to the forefront.

Indoor hockey is a ‘side’ sport of the more popular outdoor version, with many of the skills involved easily transferable to the outdoor field. With the recent growth of indoor hockey around Ireland over the past 18 months, the PSi franchises have landed in Ireland at just the right time.

Wicklow Wasps, based in the Loreto Bray Sports Hall has been running a number of introductory clinics since the beginning of 2018 to help build interest in their upcoming six-week clinics that start this Sunday, April 8. Aimed at both boys and girls from fifth class to third year, the Wasps have already had a huge uptake in players coming on board as they aim to compete in the first ever PSi Showdown in Ireland at the end of June. The Showdown will involve all nine franchises competing against each other over two days and will also include exhibition matches between a selection of the worlds best indoor hockey players so that the players, coaches and parents can watch, learn and enjoy the skills on offer.

The Wasps vibrant ethos and energy is infectious and evident through their active social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Along with their recent partnership with hockey retailers Total Hockey and global stick brand, Mercian Hockey, this energy and enthusiasm has helped them increase their profile across the Irish hockey community.

Wicklow Wasps are still accepting registrations for their upcoming six-week clinics starting later this week. If your child is a passionate hockey player, outfield or in goals, aged 11-15 years, email psiwicklow@gmail. com for more information and to register now or log on to www. psihockey.ie.
