DELGANY DRAMATIC SOCIETY PRESENT TWO ONE-ACT PLAYS

DRAMA ATTHE OLD SCHOOLHOUSE

-

DELGANY Dramatic Society brought comedy to the village recently, with two hilarious oneact plays at The Old Schoolhouse.

The plays were on over two-nights, with guests enjoying a great display of comic theatre on each occasion.

Cast and crew were preparing for months to bring the pieces to the people of Delgany. The production included ‘ Theatrical Digs’ by Jean McConnell, directed by Peter Harrison.

The play illustrates a delightful and funny encounter between an eccentric older actress and a glamorous and conceited younger actress taking a break between shows.

The play is a farcical battle of wits, work, agents and mobile phones.

This was followed by ‘ The Virtuous Burglar’ by Dario Fo, directed by Morgan Hannon.

The burglar, a notorious criminal makes a poor choice of premises for his latest exploit and becomes embroiled in a number of ‘misunderstandings’.

The burglar is discovered when the owner of the flat returns unexpectedly with his mistress. When the owner’s wife arrives, the burglar is forced to pretend the mistress is his wife. A profusion of spouses and lovers appear and the burglar - apparently the only one not having an affair - is forced into pretending to have multiple wives. Then his own wife arrives!

The evenings of entertainment also included a wine reception and raffle.
