Red Arrows set to headline air display
THE RAF Red Arrows will return to Bray this summer to headline the Bray Air Display on Sunday, July 29.
‘It will be particularly special to have the RAF Red Arrows attend the Bray Air Display this year,’ said Sé Pardy, event director.
‘ This is one of the most famous and accomplished aerobatic display teams in the world and it is sure to ignite the imagination of a new generation.’
The full line-up for the weekend will be announced in the coming weeks, in conjunction with the organising committees of the Bray Air Display and the Foynes Air Show. The weekend will involve organisation and planning across several airfields, local display teams, air traffic control and the Defence Forces.
The award-winning Bray Air Display, which is supported by the Irish Aviation Authority, will take place on Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29.
This will be the 13th year of the air display which has grown to a two-day event which attracted 140,000 people to Bray last year. The event, which is renowned as one of Europe’s best air displays and a firm family favourite in the summer festival calendar, was recognised as ‘Best Festival/Event Experience (large)’ at the prestigious, national Irish Tourism Industry Awards 2017.
It also won silver in the recent ‘Best Tourism Initiative’ category at the All-Ireland Community and Council Awards.
Bray Air Display takes place thanks to the support of the Irish Aviation Authority as well as Wicklow County Council and Bray.ie. It is also supported by a dedicated group of volunteers, without whose time and expertise the event would not succeed.
As well as gravity-defying manoeuvres, flyovers and aerobatic performances, there will be lots of family fun on the ground including a static display, food, craft and business village, helicopter pleasure flights, a fun fair and live music.
