Fined for diesel theft

-

FAILURE to pay for the diesel he took without paying from a Gorey service station came at a price for Aaron Doyle (21) from 13 Cois Cairn in Bray.

Doyle was prosecuted after €40.07 worth of diesel was stolen from Apple Green in Gorey in December.

At a previous sitting of Gorey District Court, he was told that the benefit of the Probation Act would be allowed once he paid up for the diesel.

However, when the matter was re-called on Thursday, April 5, there was no sign of the accused and solicitor Ed King accepted that the service station remained out of pocket.

Judge Gerard Haughton imposed a theft conviction with a fine of €250.
