Well done to our under-16s on their first Gaelic 4 Teens session. It was a great session despite the muck. Thanks to Jackie Kinch; one of Wicklow Ladies County stars in attendance.

But a special thanks has to go Amanda Haughton and Deborah Hinds for the enjoyable session they put together.

Their attendance at Gaelic 4 Teens coaching workshops is paying off! Well done, ladies.

It was also a busy week for girls in the league. The under-14 team are away to Newtown on Tuesday, the under-12s at home to Carnew on Thursday and our under-16s play a challenge game away to Kilcoole on Thursday.

Our Senior league against Kiltegan and Junior A league against Avondale games were cancelled during the week due to unplayable conditions. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for fixtures.

Lotto numbers were 15, 17, 23, and 29, with no winners and no match threes.

Congratula­tions to the Senior Ladies who welcomed Baltinglas­s to Dunbur on Sunday for a 6pm throw in. An excellent game of football saw the ladies run out worthy winners with the full time score: St Patrick’s 3-11, Baltinglas­s 0-05

Congratula­tions to the Senior lads who welcomed Bray Emmets to Dunbur on Sunday morning for an 11am throw-in. At half-time the lads went in ahead St Pats 0-10 Bray Emmets 0-04.

In the second half, the lads contained the Bray threat to run out worthy winners with the full-time score St Pats 0-16, Bray Emmets 0-11.

On Saturday our Junior A footballer­s took on Baltinglas­s in the Division 3 league game in Dunbur at 5pm. Our lads never really got into this game with the final scoreline of St Patrick’s 0-03, Baltinglas­s 1-14.

Hard luck to the ladies county Minor team who took on Longford in Mullingar on Saturday. Well represente­d by our own St Pat’s girls Sinead McGettigan (Captain), Amy Kavanagh, Emer McNulty, Molly Hodgkinson, Saoirse O’Reilly and Sarah Evans who now play in the shield final against Carlow on May 19.

Hard luck to ladies county under-16s who lost to Longford 5-13 to 10-6 after leading at half-time score on a scoreline of 3-07 to 3-03 in Laragh, especially our own Lucy Dunne (captain) and Zoe Armstrong, Siobhan Gorman, Niamh Caffrey and Naoise O’Reilly.

Congratula­tions to the ladies county under-14s who beat Louth in Balbriggan on an all-weather pitch with the final score of Wicklow 5-11, Louth 5-09 especially our own Aoife Caffrey and Georgia O’Connell.

Two new men in the winners enclosure at under-7 football training during the week, after what was a very difficult decision for the coaches, with all the boys putting in a great effort and improving every week.

Intermedia­te team who are sponsored by Horans bar and Restaurant Baltinglas­s had their sixth game, a Division 2 league match last Saturday away to Ashford. Final score: 1-13 to 1-9 to Ashford.

There are two matches coming up in close succession for the Intermedia­tes.

Wednesday 11th at home to Knockanana, this is a reschedule­d match having been cancelled twice due to snow; Saturday 14th at home to Carnew.

Juvenile football training academy 4-6yrs, U11,U9 and U7 is at 11am Saturdays. Mouthguard­s essential for under-7 upwards.

Our first under-11 match was fixed for Wednesday against Ballinacor at home, however due to ground conditions this was cancelled and we await a new date from the fixture secretary.

Hurling blitz in Ballinakil­l on Saturday, April 14 for under-7 and under-9s subject to ground conditions.

Under-13s playing with Michael Dwyers are playing their first game in the league tomorrow night against Tomacork at home in Knockanann­a at 7pm.

Our under-15s playing with Michael Dwyers are training Tuesday at 7pm with James Barrett’s in Highpark (subject to change depending on pitches)

Our under-17s’ match tomorrow evening in (Clan na Gael) Enniskerry/ Kilmacanog­ue. Training Thursday 7pm. (Both subject to change depending on pitches playable).

€1,900 was raised at the West Wicklow Workouts charity 5km event at our clubhouse last Sunday, a huge crowd of over 300 people turned out for the excellentl­y organised community event.

All funds were given towards the Dunlavin First Responders and the Homeless Run.

KILBRIDE/LACKEN

Kilbride/Lacken men’s team played Aughrim away from home and lost 1-11 to 0-11. Next match is Saturday at 5pm at home against Kilcoole. Also new home fixture on April 21: Kilbride/Lacken v Newcastle.

Ladies team news: Back training in the pitch this Tuesday and a home match at 2pm Saturday 14th in Kilbride pitch.

Kilbride/Lacken lotto jackpot €5,700; no winner last night. Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 19, and 21.

AGB

AGB’s Senior men travelled to Tinahely on Sunday morning to face them in the league. AGB finished 1-08 to 3-11 Tinahealy. Scores from Phil Healy 1 goal, Stephen Hurley 3pts, Chris O’Brien 2 pts, Cathal kelleher 2pts, Donal O’Keefe 1pt.

AGB’s Senior ladies travelled to Blessingto­n on Friday evening. A tough match saw Blessingto­n finish ahead of the Arklow Ladies in their first league match with a score of 6-14 to1-03.

All juvenile fixtures were cancelled last week due to the weather and water logged pitches. Fixtures will be reschedule­d.

Lap of the Map for the RNLI - the imminent return of the fantastic Mary Hickey is this coming Saturday.

All local clubs have been asked to come out on the Main Street and welcome Mary back in style. Details of which will follow later in the week. In the meantime, AGB will have collection buckets available at all training sessions this week.

We understand many have probably already made a personal donation but an extra euro or two from us this week could make a bit of a difference!

The next meeting of AGB’s Executive Committee will take place on Tuesday, May 8, in the AGB meeting rooms.

SHILLELAGH

The Junior ‘A’ football team made the long journey to Kilcoole on Saturday last to lock horns with the home side in Division 3 of the football league. Hoping to continue their impressive start to the season during which they secured wins away to Newcastle and home to Enniskerry and Aughrim, alas no joy for the lads on this occasion as they found the Kilcoole challenge a bridge to far.

An opportunit­y to get the feet back in the stirrups presents itself on Saturday next, April 14, when St. Pats are the visitors to the Fairgreen.

Throw in is at 5pm. Do come along and support the team.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY - Our annual golf classic will take place on Sunday June 3rd.(B/H Weekend) in Coolattin G/C.

The under-13 Coolkenno/Shillelagh combinatio­n St. Mary’s had their first outing of the season on Monday last, April 9 when they entertaine­d Tinahely in Coolkenno.

Match report in next week’s notes. Our under-11 team’s fixture away to Barndarrig on Friday last unfortunat­ely fell victim to unseasonab­le weather. Training for under-7 and under-9 panels suffered the same fate.

Hopefully elements on Friday next will be more condusive to outdoor activity and will allow coaching for under-7, 9 and 11 panels to go ahead on the Fairgreen from 7 to 8 pm.

Juvenile member registrati­on for 2018 will take place in the clubhouse at the Fairgreen in conjunctio­n with coaching session, Registrati­on cost is 20 Euro per Child capped at a maximum of 50 Euro for a family of three or more.

ASHFORD

After a stuttering start to the League, we finally got a win in our fourth match, against Stratford on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-09.

The lads hung on for an important morale boosting win in a close and tense finish. Best of luck to Brian Coen, our chief operator, on his recovery from a broken collarbone. Hopefully Brian will be back for the championsh­ip.

Our most recent lotto draw took place in Jacobs Well. There was no jackpot winner.

Numbers drawn were 17, 18, 24, and 26.

A huge congratula­tions and Happy birthday to one of our long standing club presidents Sean Field. Sean turned 90 last week. An Avondale man through and through, he rarely misses a match. The club marked the occasion with a surprise party for him in the complex on Monday 2nd.

We had another good win in Division 1A of the football league Sunday afternoon against Annacurra on a score line of 2-12 to 1-10.

Oisin McGraynor continues his fine scoring form with 1-1 in the first half before being withdrawn at half-time due to injury, with Conor Byrne, Ross Ward, and Sean McGraynor leading the scoring in the second half with 1-7 shared between them. Good performanc­es all round again with Eoin Baker, Eamonn Kearns and Barry Sheehan again dominating the middle. Team and scorers were:

There is a Monster Hurling Go Games blitz for the under-7 and 9s in Ballinakil­l this Saturday morning. Time still to be confirmed.

The under-5s will have training on Saturday morning from 9.30 to 10.30am in the complex. After such bad weather recently the pitch has been out of bounds for everyone. Hoping to see all teams back out soon for training.
