First aid training for cancer support centre

-

GREYSTONES Cancer Support hosted a Basic First Aid and CPR course last Saturday.

Members of GCS learned how best to respond to medical emergencies. The training session was part of the continuing learning process for GCS Members.

Items covered were emergency first aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation. Members learned what to do while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.

‘At GCS, we aim to ensure the best care for our members and for those whom we help,’ said Sonia Walsh, chair of GCS.

‘Special thanks to Carolyn Whelan from NBTS. Carolyn brought us up to date on initial emergency procedures.’

Greystones Cancer Support offers guidance, encouragement and support to cancer patients, their families and their friends. The organisation offers a number of services, including assistance with transport to hospital for check-ups and treatments.

Some of the events coming up over the coming weeks include yoga, writing classes, craft sessions, mindfulness and more.

The centre also has a varied and well stocked library. In addition to health care and health information leaflets and books, the library has a superb range of fiction.
