LARAGH

Another great result at home on Saturday in the league against Knockananna. We started the game well and were five points up inside the first five minutes.

We were winning a lot of ball all over the pitch and it wasn’t long until we had 1-10 on the board with the the goal coming from Mark Miley.

We added another 1-07 in the first half with Mark getting his second goal. Just on the stroke of half-time knockananna got their first score, from a free. Half-time score: 2-17 to 0-01.

We made a few changes at half-time and in total we brought on six substitute.

In fairness to knockananna they never gave up and hit us with four second half points.

In between their scores, Eric Olohan scored our third goal. We added another six points to finish the game winning 3-23 to 0-05.

Scores: Mark Miley 2-05, John Nolan 0-08, David Miley 0-06, Eric Olohan 1-01, Dan Power 0-01, Davie McDonald 0-01, and Aran Lynham 0-01.

Once again the support was great. A big thanks to all who shouted the lads on. Next up is An Tochar at home next Saturday at 5pm. Training Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm, big numbers expected.

Juvenile training is back the last few weeks. This will continue every Wednesday in the field at 6.15pm. New players always welcomed. Any one that missed out on registration can do so this Wednesday at training.

We host our first Go Games of the year this Friday. Anyone available to referee contact any member.

AUGHRIM

We played Enniskerry last Saturday away and lost out by two points in a very close game.

Our failure to convert good possession into scores continues to be a big obstacle in closing out these games.

We were one point behind at half-time and started the second half brightly and were soon ahead, but the concession of a goal half way through the second half left us chasing the game.

A well-taken goal from Rory O’Brien left just two points between the teams but despite having the majority of the possession for the remainder of the game we persisted in trying to work a goal when points were there for the taking.

All and all a very frustrating game from an Aughrim point of view.

ANNACURRA

The seniors had a good win on Sunday against Éire Óg. The conditions were very poor but the lads worked hard and won 1-10 to 0-12.

Our condolences to the Healy family on Paddy’s passing also to the Murphy family on Mick’s passing and the Delaney family on their loss.

BALLYMANUS

The lads had a good win against neighbours Ballinacor in Ballinacor on Sunday morning.

Playing with only the bare 15, the pathway to success in this one was made in the first half with three well-taken goals from Roan, Brendan and Padraig.

Ballinacor got a goal of their own approaching the half-time whistle, but at the break it was 3-6 to 1-3 in our favour.

The second half was a more cagey affair with one seven points in total scored - four to ourselves and three to Ballinacor. Both teams were missing a few regulars, and but for some fine saves from stand in keeper Kieran it would have been much closer, but we got a good team performance and the two points so left happy enough.

Next up is Valleymount at home on Saturday. On Sunday, we have the official opening of our newly developed pitch. Kicking off at 4pm we have the official opening with a number of GAA officials (county and national) heading to the Gap.

At 5pm then we have Wicklow playing Limerick, with light refreshments and lots more besides. Hope to see you all there.

Well done to Laura, Deirdre, John and Darragh who represented club and county at the Senior Scór Question Time in Sligo last weekend.

Although some of the questions didn’t suit this time round, the team performed admirably and their day will come.

There was no lotto jackpot winner last week from 4, 6, 9, and 15. Match three winners were Marion Carthy, Liz and P.J., Ann Doyle, and Brendan Stapleton.

For Your Diary - Purple House coffee morning: Friday 20th, 10-12, Clubhouse.

Under-11 girls football - Bray Emmets v St James Gaels - We had a great game of football in poor conditions on a terrible pitch, usually used for rugby.

It took us most of the first half to get used to the pitch and went in two goals and point down.

But we came out flying in the second half and a couple of quick goals helped settle us down and and after that it was just battle between the teams and the conditions.

James’s scored some late points so we had no idea of the score at the end but we held on for the win 4-4 to 4-3

Foireann: Katie, Kate S, Kate B, Niamh, Linette, Orla, Melanie, Leonie, Ruby, Zoe, Kimberly, Caoimhe, Mia, Lily, Isabelle, Aisling . Bainisteoiri: Alan and Anita.

Under-7s – Blessington GAA fielded two teams in NKL U7 away to Eadestown on Saturday.

Both team played very well and won. We had few new players making their debut tonight and they did brilliant. Home games on Saturday against St Kevin’s x 2 at 2.30pm.

Go Games - Go Games in Kiltegan at 11am on Saturday.

Senior Ladies – Blessington GAA senior ladies beat Ballyboden on Wednesday 5-8 to 2-3. The score line could have been a lot higher for Blessington as they dominated the game from start to finish in tough conditions on a fog covered pitch. But that didn’t stop the girls from getting the win with some great football. Another super team effort. Well done to Sara Bohan who scored three fine goals after some great build up play in the forward line.

The senior ladies were very unlucky on April 13 against Tinahely on a score of 4-11 to 3-10.

There were some great performances on the night from Molly Cullen, Anna Vas, Roisin Ellis, Shauna Byrne, Amy Ryan, Shona O’Connor and Niamh Cullen to name a few but the whole squad deserves credit with the fight they showed the night. Under-14s –It has been a busy week for our under-14 girls. On Tuesday, April 10, our Blue team were away playing Bray Emmets in the Division 1 league. The whole team played really well. The girls started slowly but put in an excellent shift in the second half. Great displays of defence and tackling and some excellent support play and score taking, ending with 9 of our players scoring. Final Score: Bray Emmets 2-05, Blessington 13-13.

Also, on Tuesday evening our under-14 White team were away to Valleymount in Division 3. A strong display by our young team against a strong Valleymount team. The girls did not stop battling throughout the game. Final Score: Valleymount 6 - 4, Blessington 3 - 6.

Girls Féile - The girls were due to play a round-robin Féile qualifying competition on Sunday in Ballinakill. Due to heavy rain, the pitches were deemed unplayable with all four teams already in Ballinakill (AGB, Blessington, Bray and Tinahely). It was decided to move the fixtures to Bray that afternoon and the competition was changed and a draw took place with AGB drawn to play Bray and Blessington drawn to play Tinahely in two semi-finals, with the winners to play in the final.

Our girls did the club and their families proud and battled for every ball but unfortunately came out second-best to Tinahely on a scoreline of Blessington 0-2, Tinahely 0-8.

Tinahely went on to beat Bray Emmets in the final. A big thank to you all the girls, their parents and families for the long trek to Ballinakill and on to Bray and apologies that all girls did not get a chance to play given the revised schedule. Training on Tuesday and Thursday nights 7pm to 8pm. Finally, best of luck and congratulation to all our girls on their confirmation on Friday. Have a great day.

Under-9s - Under-9s played in the monster blitz in Ballinakill on Saturday. We had three matches each. Some great hurling especially from Meabh Doyle and Layla Mcgrath on team 1 and Brandon Ryan and Fiacha Duffy on team 2. All showing great never give up and try your best attitudes. We fielded three teams in the Balinakill monster hurling blitz today.

Our under-9s along with many under-8s played Broadford on Sun day at home. Broadford came out with all guns blazing and showed us the level that we need to be at. Many under-8s got to see first-hand the step up to under-9s with us running on and off subs throughout. We didn’t get to settle with so many subs but a lot none the less was taken positively from today’s game.

Thanks to all who travelled to support our young hurlers. They were Sean Ennis, Sean Phibbs, Issac McGrath, Aodhan Ryan, Austin Murphy, Aaron McDonald, Abbey McCarthy, Sophie Fagan and Luke Fairfax.
