Charlie O’Leary Cup
Ashford Rovers booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Charlie O’Leary Cup when they hit Knockmitten United for six without reply in their second round tie at Tymon Park on Sunday.
Callum Pursey bagged a double for the Andy McEvoy Premier 1 leaders, while Fiachra Ryan, Cian O hAnnáin, Nathan Doyle and Robbie Eyre chipped in with a goal apiece.
St Peter’s also had a comfortable passage to the last eight as they overwhelmed Wicklow Town 8-0. Seán Devlin hit the back of the net twice, with Jamie Kelly, Tony Harris, James Verscoyle and Killian O’Carroll also getting on the scoresheet and two own goals completely their handsome tally.
James Behan was the main man for Carnew AFC, netting all of their goals as they saw off Frankfort FC 4-0, while Jason Rowlands netted a brace for Arklow Celtic but they lost out 4-2 to Bohs Supporters Club.
Shane Roche and Zach Kilbride got the goals for Arkow United in their 3-2 loss to Templeogue United, while in an all-Dublin affair Tallaght City edged out FC Lokomotiv 3-2 after extra-time.
Andy McEvoy Premier 1
Ashford Rovers have a six-point advantage at the top of the Andy McEvoy table after overcoming Arklow Celtic 4-0 at Ballinalea Park on Thursday evening.
Andrew Reilly, Fiachra Ryan, Danny Byrne and Callum Pursey all hit the back of the net for the top flight pacesetters as they continued their impressive run.
Division 3
Second-placed Conary United picked up another three points in Division 3 on Sunday as they eked out a 2-1 win over Wicklow Town at Rooster Park.
Eamon Kennedy and Stephen Roche scored for the winners, with Keith Melia replying for Town.
Avonmore FC came out on top against Carnew AFC 5-1 at the Back Alley, with Ryan Bolton scoring twice, Andrew Browne, Jacob Hamilton and Darren Beevor adding a goal apiece and John Walsh replying for the hosts.
Leaders Arklow United picked up three points without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Ballywaltrim FC
Youth Shield
Wicklow Rovers ‘B’ chalked up a comfortable victory in the Youth Shield, running out 6-0 winners over Arklow Town.
Luke Durac contributed a double, with Nathan Wynne, Jonah Sweeney, Conor Collier and David McNabb also hitting the back of the net.
