Confirmati­on: Last Saturday afternoon six young people from this parish, along with candidates from Kilternan, Bray and Powerscour­t were confirmed by His Grace the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd. Dr Michael Jackson.

The Alpha/In-Between Book Club: The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, April 24, at 8 p.m. The book that members are reading for this meeting is ‘Joy of Joys’ by Gary Cunningham.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

St Anne’s Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangemen­ts. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificat­e should be brought as it necessary to photo- copy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediatel­y.

Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.

‘The Family Cube’ – Art of Loving in the Family: These are available in St Anne’s Resource Centre for €10 each. Suitable for children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmati­on.

April Parish Pastoral Council Meeting: Last Monday night the April Parish Pastoral Council Meeting took place at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Messages for the PPC can be left in the suggestion­s box in the church or handed into St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Earth Day – This Sunday: To mark Earth Day, this Sunday morning we will be sowing wild flower seeds in the border on the roadside of St Anne’s Resource Centre after the 10.30 a.m. Mass. Please join us and bring your own seed, if you wish.

Vocations Sunday: The collection for the Dublin Diocesan Students will take place this weekend and will replace the SHARE collection. Sunday is also World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

Collection­s at Sunday Mass: The Common Fund – The first collection supports the priests of our parish, sick and retired priests, priests in low-income parishes and priests working in special ministries throughout our diocese. Share Collection – The Share Collection provides essential pastoral services supporting all parishes. Share also provides support to low-income parishes and contribute­s to initiative­s of the Irish Bishops’ Conference.

The May First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n, will take place in the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Centre on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – open this Friday and closed this Saturday. HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Indoor monthly lectures of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and surroundin­g area, have now concluded and will resume in Rathmichae­l National School in October when the autumn programme will commence.

Before then in August the Society’s week long summer School of Evening Lectures on Archaeolog­y will take place in this venue and details will be announced in due course.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA CLUB NOTES

The juvenile Academy was back in action last Saturday week at 10 a.m. in our new home Stonebridg­e Road. Why not give the Academy a try the coaches are ready, the equipment is waiting and ready to be used, the cost is only €2 per child and there is no annual subscripti­on.

There was lots of action over the weekend far too much to mention every match. Well done to everybody for getting the teams out in such bad weather conditions. Now that the bright evenings are back could all players please check with your team manager for details of training.

Our golf classic is in Delgany Golf Club on Friday, June 29. The cost is €300 per team of four people which includes a meal in Brady’s Pub and plenty of craic during the evening. The time sheet is open NOW so contact Jimmy Nolan at 087 2633203.

Gaelic4Gir­ls – a free six-week programme for new comers to our club aged between 11 and 14 years, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings April 26, May 3, May 10, May 17, May 24 and May 31. Duncan Stewart, environmen­talist, and presenter of RTÉ’s ‘Eco Eye’ programme, will give a lecture ‘How Communitie­s Can Respond to the Global Climate Crisis’ at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Tidy Towns

This Saturday the annual Clean Up Day will take place and its hoped that that this year will see the biggest turnout ever. People are asked to clean up their own areas in the morning and then join in and assist with communal areas and projects in the afternoon. At 2 p.m. a workstatio­n will be establishe­d at the top of Quinn’s Road and outside the Garda Station so please come along and help Shankill Tidy Towns get Shankill clean, tidy, and looking its best. There are lots of job for all ages and abilities so please join in.
