ST MARY’S CHURCH

Sacrament of Reconcilia­tion – St Mary’s: Confession­s are held after 10.15 a.m. Mass on Saturday morning. Exposition of Blessed Sacrament after 10.15 a.m. Prayer Service each Friday morning. The Rosary is recited each morning at 9.55 a.m. in the Prayer Room. The Rosary Group meet on first Monday of each month.

Curtlestow­n Dinner dance, Saturday April: 28th: A new date for your diary – St Patrick’s NS Curtlestow­n dinner dance is back. Pre-dinnermusi­c by Exit 15. Dinner will be followed by a super raffle with the main band of the night ‘The Luna Boys’. Summer Hill House Hotel, Enniskerry, Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. All are welcome, it promises to be a great night. Tickets €40 each or €350 for a table of 10. Trócaire: Please return Trócaire boxes taken from the back of the church during Lent to the sacristy before this Friday.

Used Stamps: Barnardos Children’s Charity are looking for used stamps. The money raised through the sale of these stamps will go directly towards their work with vulnerable children here in Ireland. If you would like to leave your used stamps in an envelope in the basket at.

The back of the church we will forward them to Barnardos at regular intervals.

St Mary’s and St Gerard’s School car park: For security reasons the Enniskerry school car park must be closed after 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary’s. Can you ensure that if you are the last person leaving the car park after 11 a.m. Mass that you close the gate.

Bookstall: A bookstall has been placed in the rere of Enniskerry church to display suitable spiritual reading material. Please place money for books in shrines at back or front of church.

Baptism: Baptisms will be held on Sunday, May 13, in St Mary’s at midday. If you wish to book a baptism please phone parish office at least two weeks beforehand.

HISTORY SOCIETY

Last Thursday night John Lennon was the guest speaker for the 8.30 p.m. April meeting of the Enniskerry History Society in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House, at which he presented his lecture ‘A History of the Main Street, Dundrum, Co. Dublin’ based on his recently launched booklet on Main Street, Dundrum.

This was the final meeting in the Spring Programme of the Enniskerry History and John Callan extends his sincere and grateful thanks to all those who presented talks to the society, to members and supporters who endured lecture cancellati­ons and re-arrangemen­ts due to the bad weather, and to the management and staff of the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel, for their assistance with meetings of the society.

ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

The opening hours for the library are – Tuesday and Friday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New members to the library are always very welcome. WALKING ASSOCIATIO­N

The Enniskerry Walking Associatio­n was formed in 2004 to protect traditiona­l walking routes in the area and to promote walking for recreation, for health, as a safe alternativ­e to car use, and to help us all to learn more about our locality.

Our popular Tuesday evening walks usually meet at the Spar in Enniskerry at 7 p.m.; Saturday walks meet at 1.30 p.m. All, who are interested, adults or children, are most welcome. Walks vary in length but most last between one-and-a half and two-and-ahalf hours; some (but not all) involve a bit of climbing. Please wear appropriat­e warm and rain-proof clothing, and proper walking boots for the occasional muddy or rocky track.

Note: we have made some changes to the informatio­n on this list of walks. Please read all informatio­n to avoid disappoint­ment. In the interests of walker’s comfort and safety participan­ts are asked to respect the directions of the walk leader and stay between the leader and the anchor person.

Next Tuesday (April 24): Oak Glen Route Variation. 1.5 hours long. Meet outside Spar at 7 p.m. or Oak Glen car park, Glencree Road, at 7.15 p.m. – This is a community activity organised by volunteers who accept no liability for injuries or loss caused to participan­ts in any of the above walks.

A clean-up of the village and surroundin­g area is planned for 7 p.m. on May 1, before our AGM the AGM will take place at 8 p.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre. Everyone is very welcome as many hands make light work.

MINDFULNES­S WORKSHOP

EAST COAST COFFEE

The East Coast FM coffee morning is on in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh (free car parking available) on Friday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to midday in aid of Wicklow Cancer Support Services and the Wicklow Hospice. A very worthy cause, which has touched many families in some way.

Enjoy delicious treats and chat with some friendly faces while being entertaine­d by the wonderful Denise Brennan and Michael Flood.

CHARITY CYCLE

Ronald McDonald House will be doing their annual cycle on Saturday, April 28, at Avon Rí Lakeshore Resort, Blessingto­n. There will be a 100km through the Sally Gap and Wicklow Gap, 50km twice around the Blessingto­n Lakes and 25km cycle once around Blessingto­n Lakes. Registrati­on at 9 a.m. with starting time at 10 a.m. Challenge yourself for a great cause by registerin­g now at rmhc.ie.

MOUNTAINS CHALLENGE

If you would like a challenge the DEBRA Ireland Wicklow Mountains Challenge is on April 29. The event comprises of a half marathon with stunning scenery as you run through mountains, bogs and rivers. PILATES

Pilates is back on April 26 for more classes. Marie Noonan is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilita­tion, health and longevity. WE LOVE ART

Classes on Monday afternoons are for Primary school children. They are taught by artist and qualified art teacher Almha Roche. Classes held in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh are small, and divided by age group. In the classes we work with lots of different art and craft forms. Children learn new skills and techniques and have fun experiment­ing with materials and making creative decisions about their work.

Adult Art This painting class will help you to find your own artistic style in your preferred medium. It is suitable for beginners as well as more experience­d painters. DRAMA SCHOOL

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher.
