Five Co Wicklow winners in Texaco art competitio­n

A BRAY teenager has come second in his age category in the 64th Texaco Children’s Art Competitio­n – one of five Co Wicklow students to have won top prizes in the popular competitio­n.

Evan Kearney (18) will be awared €1,000 for his second place finish in the 16-18 years category for his untitled portrait work.

Four other students will receive Special Merit Awards, namely Eimear Carvill (14) from Loreto Bray Secondary School, eight-year-old Dahlia Tansey from Lacken National School, and Emma Seckington from Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhóir in Arklow and William O’Riordan from Wicklow Montessori Primary School in Wicklow town, who are both aged eleven.

Prizes will be presented at an awards ceremony in Dublin next month, when all of the 126 top prize-winners will be in attendance.
