Patterson’s Butchersmarks 75thanniversary

-

A WEST Wicklow family run butcher shop celebrated a milestone 75 years in business recently.

Patterson’s Butchers in Baltinglass hosted an event for family, friends, customers and suppliers for a social evening at their shop.

Representatives of the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland who made a presentation to the Patterson family congratulating them on over 75 years serving their community.

This was very special for proprietors Anne and Michael and their sons Derek and Damian, as Patterson’s were the first Certified Craft Butchers in Co Wicklow and it’s a badge they wear with pride. Anne and Michael and their team were delighted to see so many friends and neighbours on the night.

Patterson’s has welcomed generations of local families in through the doors over the years. It is very important to them to remain at the heart of the community and they are proud supports of the local GAA, both as a lotto vendor and a place where the jerseys and orders from the GAA shop are left in to be collected.

When Michael Snr opened his shop in the 1940s, little did he imagine it would still be a thriving business at the same location 75 years later.

When Michael died in 1958, his two sons Michael and Denis took over the shop and continued to run it for many years.

Today, the business continues in the family with a third generation of Patterson’s at the helm in Derek and Damian and both men are proud of the generations that went before them.

The business has seen many changes over the years but the ethos has remained the same. Patterson’s has stayed loyal to local farms that produce top quality beef and lamb for the shop.
