Jim was a real gentleman

JAMES (Jim) Kiernan passed away on 20th peacefully at St Michael’s Hospital Dunlaoghai­re surrounded by his loving family.

James, who was 85, was the last steam train driver for CIE and is predecease­d by his son-in-law Stephen Kinsella.

He was the dearly loved husband of Moira and much-loved father of Deirdre, Siobhán, Shay and Dec. He will be sadly missed by his grandchild­ren Roísín, Pierse, Aóife, Naomi, Karen, Matthew, Sinéad and Cody, son-in-law Paddy, daughters-in-law Liz and Krisna, extended family and friends.

James reposed at the William Doyle Funeral Home in Kilcoole on Monday evening and his funeral Mass took place in the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones on Tuesday morning followed and he was laid to rest afterwards in Redford Cemetery.

Jim was a real gentleman and well known in these parts as he regularly visited his son Séamus in Glencormac. Rest in Peace Jim.
