Mass to mark baby Alannah’s second anniversary

-

A MASS to mark the second anniversary of the late baby Alannah will take place in Bray next Friday evening.

The Mass will take place in the church of the most Holy Redeemer on Friday, May 4, at 7 p.m.

The baby girl’s remains were found at the Greenstar recycling plant in Bray on May 4, 2016.

Despite appeals and investigations by gardaí, nobody has come forward since the sad news that the child had been found by the shocked workers.

Alannah was laid to rest at Redford cemetery in Greystones on the morning of Friday, May 13, 2016, with a ceremony organised by gardaí and presided over by Monsignor Enda Lloyd and Reverend Alan Breen. It was the gardaí who chose her name, meaning ‘dearest child’.

After the terrible news of the discovery of an infant’s body at the Greenstar facility, undertakers, florists, clergy and others contributed their services free of charge to ensure that baby Alannah received a fitting ceremony. Members of the community sent flowers, toys and gathered at her graveside.

Since then, staff at Greenstar have put a headstone at her grave. Superintendent Pat Ward has said that the mother has nothing to fear from him, and she can still contact him in Bray Garda Station at (01) 6665300 or call the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
