Memory room to help for those with memory impairment
A new service in Loughlinstown hospital can help anyone who has a concern about themselves or a loved one with memory impairment or a diagnosis of dementia.
Senior occupational therapist Joyce Jones is one of the people on- hand at the memory and technology resource suite to help and advise anyone who comes to avail of the free service.
The memory room at St Columcille’s hospital in Loughlinstown currently operates two days a week, Monday and Tuesday.
The suite is set up like a mini apartment to allow people with memory difficulties see and try a range of products to make independent living easier.
It gives you an opportunity to see and try out different devices and strategies to promote independence, safety and quality of life. It allows you to make sure that the devices or strategies work for you or your loved one.
During an appointment, an occupational therapist will meet with you to identify the strengths and weaknesses with your memory and offer suggestions and strategies to overcome day to day memory problems.
To make an appointment, call Lisa or Joyce at 01 2115186.
