Greystones CFR install more defibrillators
New public access defibrillators have been installed in Greystones.
Greystones CFR are delighted to announce three additional Public Access Defibrillators in the town and would like to thank all involved for their time and sponsorship. Greystones Sailing Club for moving their own defibrillator to an outdoor cabinet, The Sugarloaf Lions Club for sponsoring a defibrillator and outdoor cabinet at Daybreak supermarket in Eden Gate, and Pat Doherty, Carrig Orchard Pub for sponsoring a defibrillator and outdoor cabinet on the wall.
‘I am really delighted to see three new Public Access Defibs being installed in our locality. We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic history of Community First Responders and this is yet another massive contribution by them. I want to thank all those involved in sponsoring and fundraising to making this happen - you are a credit to our community,’ said Minister Simon H-Arris.
Having access to a defibrillator and training as many people as possible in their use is vital to a community. If CPR is started within three minutes of a patient going into cardiac arrest, you can increase their chance of survival to 70 per cent.
Margaret Duggan is chairperson of Greystones CFR and her message to us all is ‘Learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator and once you know that make sure you know where the nearest defibrillator to your home is.’
