CHOIRS FROM ALL OVER COUNTY HIT THE RIGHT NOTES
WICKLOW SINGS FESTIVAL AT TEMPLECARRIG SCHOOL, GREYSTONES
TEMPLECARRIG School was alive with the sound of music recently for the Wicklow Sings Choral Festival.
The festival which is in third year was a massive success according to one of the organisers Dara McMahon.
‘It was an amazing event’ said Dara. ‘ The festival was opened by Minister Andrew Doyle and hosted by Templecarrig National School. We had hundreds in the audience and we had 13 choirs from around the county.
‘We had representatives there from Tiglin and Move4Parkinsons who will be the charities to benefit from the weekend. Proceeds from the festival itself will be in aid of Tiglin, and the raffle proceeds are in aid of Move4Parkinsons.
‘ The festival was a unique opportunity for choral fans to hear the best Wicklow has to offer.’
Choirs who performed at the festival included Voices of Bray, DoMiSo Choir, Serendipity, Beating Time, Unity Gospel Choir, Move4Parkinsons Wicklow Choir, Avondale Voices, Pitch Perfect Ladies, Newtown Male Voice Choir, Temple Carrig School Choir, West Wicklow Voices, Tinahely Wom- en’s Choir and more.
‘It was a showcase of all the great choirs in the county’, said Dara ‘and also a great opportunity to see the diversity of choirs in the county. There were people performing of all ages and it was a fantastic platform for choirs to showcase their talents to a public audience.
‘Everyone who attended really enjoyed it and we’ve had some great feedback.’
