Swedish Vocal Ensemble Concert: The Hässleholm church vocal ensemble, Sweden will perform programme of traditiona­l and sacred choral music under the direction of Conductor Mrs Birgitta Roslund on Sunday, May 13, at 6.30 p.m. in Holy Re- deemer Church. This Concert is free and all are welcome.

Collection­s at Sunday Mass: Common Fund: The first collection supports the priests of our parish, sick and retired priests, priests in low income parishes, and priests working in special ministries throughout our diocese. Share Collection: The Share Collection provides essential pastoral services supporting all parishes. Share also provides support to low-income parishes and contribute­s to imitative of the Irish Bishops’ Conference.

Special Mass: A special Mass will take place in St Peter’s Church on Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. for the Venerable Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers and the Presentati­on Brothers. Christian Mothers: The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 2, in the Parish Hall after the 11 a.m. prayer service.

Volunteer Cleaners: Are urgently needed to help clean the church on Thursday mornings for one hour. Please contact the parish office for further informatio­n.

40 days and nights of Adoration: You may be aware that, starting on Tuesday, April 17, and continuing till Saturday, May 26, there will be 40 days and nights of Adoration on top of Croagh Patrick in devotion to the nation. Our Lady Queen of Peace, Bray will dedicate 40 days and nights of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament to coincide with the Vigil on Croagh Patrick. We wish to extend a warm welcome and invitation to all parishione­rs in our diocese to come and join us in Our Lady Queen of Peace, Putland Road, Bray, daily at 3 p.m. till Saturday, May 26, Please Join us in prayer for the nation and Protection of Life.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE

Divine Mercy Mass: A Divine Mercy Mass will take place this Friday at 8 p.m. in our church. Benedictio­n and Litany of Our Lady: Will take place after the 10.30 a.m. Monday Mass to honour Mary during the month of May.

St Vincent de Paul: The church gate collection this weekend is in aid of our local conference of St Vincent de Paul. The April’s collection amounted to €1,326. Thank you for your continued support.

Vocations Collection: Thank you all for your generosity. €1,124 was donated.

Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes: Bookings for our Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes are now being taken in Villa Pacis (weekdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Our Lady Queen of Peace summer Project 2018: Our very popular summer project will take place again this July in the Villa Pacis under the supervisio­n of Anne Nolan. Week 1: July 2 to July 6 ; Week 2: July 9 to July 13. Open to children aged eight to 14 years of age. €35 per child per week. VARA: The Vevay Active Re- tirement annual Holiday to Cork Will be leaving on May 27 and returning on May 31 Enquiries please in Villa Pacis on Friday mornings between 11 a.m. and midday.

Devotion To the Nation: Started on Tuesday, April 17, at 3 p.m. and will continue till Saturday, May 26, with 40 days and nights of adoration on top of Croagh Patrick. QOP YOUTH CLUB

Paul Temple, Stephen Brierton, and Barry’s night time outing into the woods with 10 members of the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club was a great success. They were there for three hours cooking sausages and roasting marshmallo­ws on sticks. At 11 p.m. they cleaned up the area and headed home. Everyone felt that this should be repeated again this summer. Martina and Kathleen organised a girls night with a beautician followed by refreshmen­t and a film. Fifteen girls attended the session. The club is now functionin­g on Tuesdays at 5.30 p.m. with water sports in addition to events on Fridays and Saturdays, and other days.

SAILING CLUB

Saturday was an important and exciting day for Bray Sailing Club. At around dawn they began the task of launching up to eighteen of their big boats. This involved the use of large tractors and lifting cranes. Pre-recession they would have launched up to double the number. The weather and tide was perfect for the job, and they had a lot of safety personnel on the ground for the occasion.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers have a busy programme for the rest of the year. It includes local and national dive venues as well as diving holidays in Lanzarote and the Maldives. There are vacancies for new scuba divers and snorkelers at the present, and now is a good time to join because currently the club fees are the lowest in the country. DRAWING COURSE

A Beginners Drawing Course starts at Queen of Peace Parish Centre on Wednesday, May 2, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Using proven methods that unlock the creative part of the brain, Nicola Sedgwick show you techniques that will enable you to draw realistica­lly, as well as learning a skill that will last a lifetime.

CUALANN SOCIETY

The topic for the Thursday, May 17, meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, society will be an evening devoted to ‘Printed in Bray: the history of the printing industry in Bray and County Wicklow’ which will take place in the Royal Hotel, Bray, at 8 p.m. – all welcome – admission €5.
