Vandals attack Bray Fire Station

- By MARY FOGARTY

VANDALS attacked Bray Fire Station overnight last weekend, breaking windows and targeting a cleaner’s car.

Garda Declan Lynch of Bray Garda Station said that on Friday evening at around 7.20 p.m., the cleaner was working in the station when she heard a loud bang.

The front window had been smashed with a stone.

She saw a group of youths run from the station on School’s Road. Upon further investigation, she found that the windscreen of her own car had been shattered in the attack.

Fire fighters from Bray Fire Service later returned from a call at around 2.30 a.m. on Saturday morning to discover another smashed window.

A glass window at the front of nearby Shoreline Leisure Centre was also found to have been broken on Saturday morning.

Deputy John Brady said that this was an ‘absolute mindless act of vandalism’.

‘Any thuggish activity like this is unacceptable, but an attack on a critical emergency service that looks after our community is a new low.’

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to any of the incidents to come forward. Anyone who saw suspicious activity can contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300 or the garda confidential line, 1800 666 111.ow.
