Students shortlisted for awards
Young people from Wicklow are celebrating being shortlisted for the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards finals, which will be held in the Round Room of the Mansion House, Dublin, on May 22.
The groups from Loreto Secondary School Bray and Presentation College Bray are advancing to the finals with inventive projects raising awareness on topics such as creating greener school environments.
Earlier this year, the groups were tasked with coming up with action projects that would make a real contribution to the environment at a local level. Once this was complete, the intrepid young environmentalists had to pitch their big ideas to a panel of experts at the Leinster ECO-DEN - a Dragon’s Den style pitch meeting which they passed with flying colours.
The impressive projects have been shortlisted with almost 80 others for the finals of the Young Environmentalist Awards.
From over 318 project registrations received across Ireland and Northern Ireland, the successful groups will now have the honour of showcasing their project at the Young Environmentalist Awards Showcase and Awards ceremony in Dublin, which will see over 650 young environmentalists from all over Ireland come together to highlight their work.
