Family fun in the sun and muck

-

A whopping €16,000 was raised for St Patrick’s National School in Bray recently.

The parents association at the school devised a family fundraiser which saw hundreds of people take part. The day started with St Patrick’s Fittest Family, which saw several families, in teams of four, pit themselves against each other to see which was the fittest.

Tasks the families had to complete included hang tough, log carry, sleigh pull and a mud run. This was won by the Johnston family who proved they were the fittest family.

Afterwards there was a 3.5km Hell and Back run which over 650 people – adults and children alike – took part in.

Fiona Murphy of the parents’ association at the school said they were delighted with the response from people on the day.

‘We raised around €16,000 and there is still more money to come in. The money will be used to pay for transforming the basement in the school to a new all-purpose area for sports and after-school activities.’

Fiona said the new space is now open.
