Harbour toilets contract going out to tender soon

-

The contract for the toilet building at Greystones Harbour will shortly go out to tender, members heard at last week’s municipal district meeting.

The members and officials had sought expressions of interest for the facility.

District manager Michael Nicholson said that the person who wins the tender gets the site for free. They can operate a business there but must provide a public toilet facility, he explained.

Cllr Derek Mitchell complained that Bray has been in a position to provide public toilets at the northern end of the cliff walk, while Greystones has not yet been.

‘Bray has been treated very favourably,’ said Cllr Mitchell.

He said that as well as having ‘wonderful toilets’ installed seven years ago, there is also money for refurbishment in the capital expenditure programme.
