Smart lighting grant scheme launched

-

BUSINESSES in Wicklow are being invited to apply for Government-funded Smart Lighting Grants which will be distributing up to €3 million in funding.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is accepting applications from businesses for grants which will cover approximately one-third of the cost of energy efficient lighting upgrades, helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) save up to 90 per cent on their lighting costs. It is estimated that these smart lighting upgrades will typically pay for themselves in two to three years. The grant is open to all SME sectors, including retail, hospitality, tourism, private education, health facilities and manufacturing.

Applications can be submitted by individual businesses or by co-ordinators who group applications and are in a position to apply and deliver lighting upgrades for a number of businesses.

‘In 2017, over 60 facilities benefited from support through SEAI’s smart lighting grant, achieving savings of over half a million euro,’ said Jim Gannon, CEO of SEAI. ‘We are inviting SMEs, their advisors and suppliers in the lighting supply chain to get in touch with our team and find out how we can help you embed long term savings, and increase the sustainability of your business.’

The closing date for applications is Thursday, May 31.
