Arklow students eager for provincial final battle
FAI SPAR PRIMARY SCHOOL 5S LEINSTER FINAL FOCUS
THE path to the FAI Spar Primary 5’s competition started for Gael Scoil an Inbhir Mhoir with the Wicklow qualifiers in the Bridgewater Centre Park on April 22.
They progressed to the county finals the following week, and qualified for the decider with a win in their last group game against Carnew NS. They met Scoil Nioclais Naofa in the final, winning 2-0.
The South Leinster finals saw the Gael Scoil play schools from Wexford and Carlow, playing each school twice on the day.
The first group game saw a 0-0 result against the Wexford champions from Murrintown NS. The second game against Ballinabranna NS of Carlow saw them run out 2-0 winners. The return game versus Murrintown was a close encounter with the Gael Scoil winning 1-0. It was the same score again when they faced Ballinabranna once more winning 2-0. The squad now advance on to the Leinster finals in the MDL grounds in Navan in Co. Meath on Thursday, May 10. Name: Tiernan Gahan Favourites:
