Great sadness at passing of former Glen Dessie

-

MANY former Glencormac United FC players of the late 70s and early 80s were saddened to hear of the passing last week of Des Prendergast.

Des passed away peacefully on April 29 at his home, following a short illness, bravely borne, surrounded by his devoted family.

He was the beloved son of Maisie and the late Paddy and dearly loved husband of Gretta, treasured father of Ciara, Seán and Conor, much loved brother of Brendan and Liam and the late Eamonn and Ann, and will be sadly missed also by his cherished granddaughter Ella, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

His Requiem Mass took place last Friday (fourth) in the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bray followed by burial in Kilternan Cemetery Park.

Former Glens recalled many stories of the crack with Des on the playing fields and even more banter in the after match drinks where he was quiet a character and will be remembered fondly.

When it was time to hang up the boots, Des got the golf clubs out and played with some of his former teammates in Old Conna Golf Club till his illness.

Farewell Des, rest in peace.
