Who are these women who would supposedly access abortion services on a whim and with so little consideration for the magnitude of such a decision? Do you know them? Because I certainly don’t.
I do know compassionate and courageous Irish women who would never make this decision lightly.
We know Irish women. I am an Irish woman. I know where we’ve come from and I know where we’re going. And on May 25, I will vote for these women – for those who have come before us and for those who will follow.
I will vote for the more the than 170,000 Irish women who have travelled as medical refugees since 1980 to access abortion services outside this jurisdiction, because our laws would not allow us to take care of them in their worst days.
I will vote for Irish women and I will vote yes.
