Disappointing and disrespectful to use Down Syndrome children on posters
Dear Sir,
It is disappointing to see the LoveBoth campaign using photos of children with Down Syndrome on posters once again.
Not only is it incredibly dishonest – it is near-impossible to get a diagnosis before 12 weeks gestation and, under the proposed legislation, abortion for non-fatal disability after 12 weeks will be illegal – it is also incredibly disrespectful given that Down Syndrome Ireland has already issued a statement asking for people with Down Syndrome not to be exploited to make a point in this campaign.
The Irish people deserve to make their decision based on facts, not on this kind of dishonest exploitation.
Yours, etc, Alice Henehan, Sidbury Court Bray
