School celebrates milestone in style
ALMOST 200 people enjoyed a glamorous night of celebration when they attended a gala ball at Powerscourt House to mark the 200th anniversary of Powerscourt NS.
The evening began with a cocktail reception on the lawn, supplied by Glendalough Gin.
The guests then enjoyed a light supper, provided by Feast Catering, followed by a night of dancing to a band and DJ in the ballroom of the house.
The event was attended by current teaching and school staff, as well as parents, past pupils, teachers, principals, and staff. It was a wonderful opportunity for past colleagues to catch up and reminisce about their time in the school.
Archdeacon Ricky Rountree spoke briefly at the event, offering his congratulations to all in the school community who had been instrumental in supporting and developing it over the years.
He praised the commitment of all the teachers and staff who, over previous generations, had shown great commitment to the school.
Gratitude was expressed to the Slazenger family of Powerscourt, themselves past pupils of the school, who made the gardens and ballroom available for the celebration.
The ball was just one of a number of celebratory events to mark the school’s impressive milestone. Earlier in the week, the school returned to the old schoolhouse in Enniskerry village, buried a time capsule, held a grandparents’ day and enjoyed numerous other events.
