ACTIVE RETIREMENT

We have yoga again next Tuesday. There is an annual general meeting for the older people’s network on Friday the 25th at the Brockagh Resource Centre. Apologies for the misstated notice in last week’s issue. Payment for our garden party next month is now due. you can drop the €30 into either Margaret Brady or Anne Thornton.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Community Games is picking up momentum as we come into the busy season. Next weekend is the first weekend of the Aldi National Community Games festival in UL Limerick and we have seven children travelling with their parents to take part. Jamie Shannon in art, Elliott O’Driscoll in Swimming. Louis Connell in solo singing. Sarah Doyle and Isabella Doyle in cross country and Padraic Doyle and Caolin Goetelan in the marathon. Good luck to all of them and enjoy the experience.

The County Wicklow Track and Field Athletic Finals take place on Saturday, June 16, in Shillelagh and we have over 60 children participat­ing. It’s important that all children continue to train every Monday evening at 7 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS MEETING

There will be a Tidy Towns meeting in the Pavilion on Rednagh Road tomorrow night (Thursday, May 24) at 7.30 p.m. All welcome to discuss formulatin­g a plan for the village and to find volunteers. Aughrim were overall winners of the National Tidy Towns competitio­n in 2007 and tidiest village in 2009. Let’s make it happen again.

RUN THE ROCK

Run the Rock 2018 will take place on Saturday, June 2, at11 a.m. This event is in its sixth year and is now establishe­d as one of Aughrim GAA Club’s key fundraiser­s. This event has grown in popularity year on year and has been very well supported by our local community and beyond.

This year there are new ‘Run the Rock’ medals for our 11k event which look great. The 3.5k family fun run is also very popular. Registrati­on and race details are at popupraces.ie. Registrati­on for 3.5K is on the day.

LOTTO

The numbers 5, 7, 21 and 22 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last May14th. Match-three winners were Patricia Porter, Jane Murray, Star and Milly and Aideen, Adam, Dylan and Shauna Rochford. The jackpot was not won. The jackpot is €3,150.

MARKET

Aughrim Town and Country Market at the Pavilion every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a relaxing sociable morning, catching up with friends and neighbours over a tasty breakfast/brunch or delicious home bakes with a choice of organic barista-style coffee.
