A finance company representative was punched in the face and forced to lie down on the ground when he was set upon by two youths in Bray last weekend.

The two raiders got away with £350 cash after the robbery at Kilmantain Place in Bray at 8.45 p.m. last Friday.

The money was the evening takings of the representative, who was doing his regular collection round in the area for the Provident Finance Company.

According to gardai, the collector was about to enter a house when he was approached by two youths who came up and grabbed him from behind. One of them held him while the other punched him in the face.

They took the money from him andt hen told him that if he did not move he would not be hurt. They then ran away from the scene.

According to descriptions being made available by the gardai, one of the men was aged between 20 and 24, was around 5’ 7” and 5’ 8” in height and had sandy, reddish coloured hair.

The second man is aged about 18 to 20 and about 5’ 7” in height. One of the men was wearing a green baseball cap.

Also last weekend, a masked and armed criminal got away with 20 in cash after he pulled off a late night ‘ knock and rob’ raid on the home of an unsuspecting homeowner in the Coburg Estate off the Upper Dargle Road in Bray.

The householder answered the door and was confronted by a youth wearing a balaclava helmet type mask and carrying a knife who demanded money. The householder handed over a wallet containing £20 to the youth, who also took the door key before fleeing the scene.

Investigating gardai say that a second culprit also appeared who rang the doorbell before running away. Nobody was hurt during the incident.
