LITTER PICK

Third Wicklow Scouts went out to do a litter pick last Saturday for our rough mile project. We expected one or two bags but came away with a small truck full of dumped rubbish. This included ovens, corragated iron, household waste, sofas, bikes and lots of bags from construction sites. We are hoping to help get the woods back into good shape by removing waste and enhancing the beauty of the woods.

NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC Plenty of footie last week and again loads of goals were scored. The 8’s hosted a gallant Sporting Greystones team in what turned out to be a very one-sided game. Well done to all the team on there performance and they will be facing tougher challenges in the weeks ahead.

The 9’s played out a very close series of games at home to Greystones B. On the day among the players who played well were Alex Ryan, Albie Chance, Ryan McDonald, Leon O’Connor, Nathan McMahon and Nathan Donohoe (up from the under-eights).

The under-10s (kindly sponsored by Real Debt Solutions) made the short trip to Kilcoole to take on St Anthony’s and after a great game they edged out the home side. Aidan Heffernan, Luke Turley, William Valentine, Ryan Collins and Pat Carey all scored while Mike Synnott and Sebastian Anton were the pick of the Newtown players.

Naoise Lowe helped herself to a hat trick for the under-11s at home to a gallant St Anthony’s team. Also scoring on the day were Cormac Chance, Jake Robertson, Brooklyn Doyle and PJ Duffy. Cillian Coffey, Jack Daly and Evan Fahey were among the players who starred on the day.
