Greystone Scribblers let their talents soar in ‘First Flight’
THE book ‘First Flight’ by the Greystones Scribblers was launched last week at the Glenview Hotel.
Greystones Scribblers were established by the East-Wicklow branch of MS Ireland over nine years ago. They meet every other Wednesday at Greystones Parish Centre. They were the first – and currently the only – multiple sclerosis affected writers’ group in Ireland.
First Flight is the group’s inaugural publication of poetry and short stories, an initiative facilitated by Carol Boland with financial assistance from Wicklow County Arts Office.
The result is an inspirational book of well-honed stories that amuse, entertain and sometimes pull at the heart strings.
The launch took place on World MS Day, May 30. The day brings the global MS community together to share stories and raise awareness for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis.
The entire profits from the sale of the book will go to the MS Care Centre in Bushy Park. It is Ireland’s only respite centre for people with multiple sclerosis.
The guest speaker at the event was Ava Battles, CEO of MS Ireland.
The book is on sale now in Dubray Books in Bray, SuperValu in Greystones, the Wicklow Bookshop in Wicklow town and also from bolandpress.ie
