St Laurence’s holds green day of action

-

ST Laurence’s National in Greystones kicked off its Global Citizenship and Marine Environment Day of Action with a ‘Walk on Wednesday’ to Tesco car park and from Delgany.

This was followed by assembly in the school hall, a presentation to focus on the state of our oceans due to excessive use of and disposal of plastic.

The hall then became a hive of activity, literally, with bee-keepers Joe Good and Tony Lyons sharing their knowledge on bee-keeping with the mesmerised pupils, who enjoyed locating the queen bee amongst the swarm, which was safely confined glass in a demonstration hive.

Other stands in the expo included a presentation on food waste, global citizenship, marine life and what not to flush down the toilet. Jim Callery, Environmental Awareness officer from Wicklow County Council, and Cllr. Jennifer Whitmore were in attendance.
