NINE ARKLOW AREA
THE CURRENT Nine Fine Artist exhibition at the Arklow Visual Arts Gallery has been extended due to popular demand. The exhibition of works of nine local artists from within the Arklow area launched on May 22 and such was the response locally that it is to continue for another week.
Opening night drew a large attendance to view the works in oils, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media, sculpture, driftwood creations and handmade jewellery.
Artists who participated in the show were Kathleen Flusk, Jimmy Myler, Pauline Merry, Theresa McCarthy, Finnuala Hough, Neil McAteer, Sinead Hawkins, Kristine Petersone and Helen Hiney.
The exhibition represents a move on the gallery’s part towards encouraging local artists who have not exhibited work for a time to do so.
It is hoped that group shows will be happening more frequently.
The gallery is now taking bookings for the Seabreeze Festival Exhibition and the Maritime Weekend Exhibition.
Paintings of boats or nautical themed works are particularly welcome. Space is limited so inclusion in the exhibitions will be on a first come, first served basis.
For information, drop in during opening hours Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at 61/63 Main Street, Arklow.
