Big crowd expected in Tinahely

-

THIS Sunday the Wicklow ladies football community will come together to remember the late Ellen Kinch at Tinahely GAA grounds when the annual Ellen Kinch Memorial Day is held.

At the time of going to print, 16 clubs are signed in to attend the always entertaining seven-a-side tournament that also includes exciting sideshows and healthy banter and chat in hopefully pleasant weather.

Wicklow and Tinahely star Jackie Kinch is one of the main organisers of the day and she is delighted with the current total of 16 teams from inside and outside the county which have committed to compete on the day for the Ellen Kinch Cup and she is especially pleased with the increase in Wicklow based teams getting involved.

“This year there are more Wicklow teams involved than ever and it’s brilliant to see them buying into it,” said Jackie.

The seven-a-side format of the event is going into its fourth year while the holding of the Ellen Kinch Memorial Day has now reached its tenth year.

The first game of the day gets underway at noon on Sunday with the last game planned to be completed by 4pm.

Jackie Kinch promises all supporters that there will be an exciting sideshow on the day that will involve guessing and a really excellent prize for the lucky winner.
