All-Ireland joy for Arklow duo

Tegan and Amber win titles

-

ARKLOW’S two Irish ladies champions claimed their third Irish titles at the National Stadium last week with emphatic wins.

Amber Byrne was first into the ring against Sarah Mongan from Dublin.

This was an exhibition of pure boxing skills by the young Arklow boxer as she had not been hit at all during the first two rounds.

The Dublin boxer did her best but could not get to the Arklow girl who won all three rounds to claim her third successive title.

Tegan Farrell was Arklow’s second boxer in action and also seeking her third Irish title.

Tegan was in with Marie Hen- nessy from Togher in Cork and the Arklow southpaw lost no time getting the action going scoring with solid two-handed attacks.

In the second round Tegan caught the Cork girl with a solid left which visibly shook her and a further attack in the third round prompted the referee to step in and stop the contest to give Tegan her third Irish title.
