Seven Wicklow pubs picked for major Irish tourist guide

June 2002

-

SEVEN hostelries in County Wicklow have qualified for inclusion in a major guide to Irish pubs which will be distributed to potential tourists around the world.

The Irish Pubs Guide 2002 is the fifth such brochure to be produced and this year includes Ashford House, the Coach House in Roundwood, Lynham’s in Laragh, Quinn’s Bar, Baltinglass, The Meetings near Avoca, Murphy’s of Arklow and Jim Byrne’s in Carnew.

This initiative has been developed by the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland and brings together the premier pubs around Ireland which offer the highest standards in every element of their service.

A guide providing specific details of location and facilities offered by each of the pubs has been produced and will be distributed through Bord Failte and through qualifying pubs, north and south.

All pubs included in the guide are marketed abroad as a unique brand.

The inclusion of the seven pubs in Wicklow follows and independent assessment process which had to ensure that they met a number of specific criteria before qualifying.
