Christmas and Easter Due also form part of this fund and also assist in supporting the priests of the diocese.

Second Collection – The second collection goes to the diocese of Dublin for their SHARE fund. This fund supports many of the central services of the diocese as well as providing support to parishes unable to meet their own financial needs.

Pink Envelope – Donations placed in a Pink Envelope and left in either of the baskets stay in the parish and are used to help meet the ongoing cost, currently about €120,000 annually, of running the parish and maintaining its churches and buildings. If you would like the parish to include your Pink Envelope donations in its annual acknowledgement, please just write your name on the envelope. Both the diocese and the parish are sincerely grateful to you for your generos- ity.

Parish Meeting in St Mochonog’s: Thanks to all who attended what was a very positive and constructive community meeting in St Mochonog’s on Tuesday week evening. Among the matters discussed were arrangements for use of St Mochonog’s Hall, lay Ministries and Mass times. While these will be brought to the Parish Pastoral Council we would ask all in the community to think about them over the summer before we organise a follow up meeting in September as Fr Bernard has requested. Fr Bernard is also planning to arrange similar forums for other communities throughout the parish.

Probably most urgently we need to progress the issue of lay participation in, and leadership of, services. Though this may for many still seem somewhat alien it is something that all of our parish communities will inevitably have to embrace if they are to continue to thrive into the future. Particularly we would ask everyone to think about the Funeral Ministry which has been in development now for a number of years in the diocese. In one parish within the Bray Deanery, of which we are part, over 30 people have come forward for training and this is something that we need to establish now in our own parish. Again our thanks to all. Anne/Celia/ Mairead/John.

Parish Pastoral Council meeting: The recent scheduled meeting was recently deferred to enable members to attend the vigil for the late Jastine Valdez and took place last night (Tuesday). This was the last meeting before the summer break.
