Good attendance at Older Person’s Council meeting

-

OVER 100 people attended the AGM of the County Wicklow Older Person’s Council (CWOPC) in the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh.

CWOPC is a voluntary group, established in December 2007 through funding from Wicklow County Council and Age and Opportunity, to provide a voice for older people in the Garden County.

On the day, Cllr Miriam Murphy launched the new ‘Information Guide to Services for Older People in County Wicklow’ which is a product that came about as one of the actions from the Co. Wicklow Age Friendly Strategy 2017 -2022.

Former TD Liz McManus gave a speech and outlined her philosophy for life while the second guest speaker was ‘Queen of the Plough’, Anna May McHugh, who spoke about her life and how important it is for older people to keep going and participate in their community. She urged people to keep communicating as it appears the art of conversation is being lost.

The business of the day was concluded with a tea dance attended by none other than ‘Elvis’.
