Beach clean-up collects 335kg of rubbish

-

THE Clean Coasts Programme and Barefoot Wine brought the ‘Barefoot Wines Beach Rescue’ to Bray beach recently. On Saturday, 19 May, over 335kg of waste was collected in just one hour thanks to the efforts of over 100 volunteers.

The event was part of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, a campaign which has seen over 14,000 volunteers put their best foot forward and help clean the world’s coastlines since its launch 12 years ago. Clean-up events have been held across the globe including Australia, the US, Mexico, South Korea, Puerto Rico and Germany.

This is the second year the event was held in Ireland. The day’s activities were free and included the beach clean and an after party with a barbecue and entertainment.
