Orchestra performs songs of Gilbert and Sullivan

-

GREYSTONES Orchestra performed an evening of Gilbert and Sullivan recently at SoBe South Beach Pavilion.

The performers enjoyed their concert in this year’s new venue and presented a delightful evening of music.

The evening of operetta featured a host of favourites from musical artists Gilbert and Sullivan. The programme included music and song from The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance and HMS Pinafore. Soprano Katy Kelly will once again joined the orchestra, singing popular numbers such as ‘Poor Wand’ring One’ from Pirates of Penzance and ‘Sorry Her Lot’ from HMS Pinafore.

Katy was joined by tenor Wayne Woodman who performed a number of songs including ‘I’ve Got a Little List’ from the Mikado.

Greystones Orchestra was established in 1989 by a small group of musicians whose aim was to ‘stimulate interest in music and encourage musicians of all standards’. Within a decade that became into a multi-cultural orchestra with players from America, Australia, England, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, Singapore and Switzerland, all with the common language of music. The players are of mixed ability, all happy to meet on a Monday night and play music together.

They rehearse on Monday evenings in St Patrick’s primary school in Greystones.
