Third and fourth class students enjoy top blitz in Bray

FANTASTIC FOOTBALL BLITZ - A fantastic day’s football took place in Bray Emmets for third and fourth class boys on Thursday, June 7. There were four groups playing over eight pitches in this nine-a-side participat­ion football blitz.

Group 1: St Pats 1, St Laurence’s 1, Roundwood 1, St Cronans 1.

Group 2: St Pats 2, St Cronans 2, Ashford 1, Scoil Chualann.

Group 3: Roundwood 2, Ashford 2, Kilcoole, Newtown.

Group 4: Roundwood 3, Moneystown, St Laurence’s 2.

The sun shone and excellent Gaelic football was on show. What more could you ask for on a sunny June afternoon! Well done to the teachers, referees, and particular­ly to the young whistlers.

Thanks to Bray Emmets for the use of their grounds and to anyone who helped out on the day, but most importantl­y thanks to all the participan­ts who put on such a wonderful display played in a great sporting manner.

SPORTS DAY - This year’s Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Sports Day will take place in Charleslan­d Sport and Recreation Park, Greystones on Wednesday, June 13, at 10 a.m. sharp. There are strict age limits for Sports Day.

SPORTS DAY RULES - Each school is responsibl­e for the supervisio­n and safety of their own participan­ts and supporters.

N.B. Running shoes must be worn for all track events. No football boots, spikes or running shoes with spikes removed are permitted for these track events.

Competitor­s must be under 8, 9, etc. on January 1, 2018.

Long Puck, Long Kick, Long Jump and Ball Throw contests for girls are separate from boys.

In the Long Kick event the ball is kicked from a dead ball position or from hand. Distance wins.

In the Long Puck event the ball is hit from the hands or from the ground. Distance wins. Helmets must be worn.

Competitor­s may have three attempts in these events.

In section 1 (Track) a competitor may compete in one event and the relay race.

In section 2 (Field) a competitor may compete in one event only.

A competitor may not compete in both sections.

Medals will be presented after each final.

Each school is responsibl­e for their own litter. Please bring litter bags.
