Third and fourth class stu­dents en­joy top blitz in Bray

FAN­TAS­TIC FOOT­BALL BLITZ - A fan­tas­tic day’s foot­ball took place in Bray Em­mets for third and fourth class boys on Thurs­day, June 7. There were four groups play­ing over eight pitches in this nine-a-side par­tic­i­pa­tion foot­ball blitz.

Group 1: St Pats 1, St Lau­rence’s 1, Roundwood 1, St Cro­nans 1.

Group 2: St Pats 2, St Cro­nans 2, Ash­ford 1, Scoil Chualann.

Group 3: Roundwood 2, Ash­ford 2, Kil­coole, New­town.

Group 4: Roundwood 3, Moneystown, St Lau­rence’s 2.

The sun shone and ex­cel­lent Gaelic foot­ball was on show. What more could you ask for on a sunny June af­ter­noon! Well done to the teach­ers, referees, and par­tic­u­larly to the young whistlers.

Thanks to Bray Em­mets for the use of their grounds and to any­one who helped out on the day, but most im­por­tantly thanks to all the par­tic­i­pants who put on such a won­der­ful dis­play played in a great sport­ing man­ner.

SPORTS DAY - This year’s Al­lianz Cu­mann na mBunscol Sports Day will take place in Charles­land Sport and Re­cre­ation Park, Grey­stones on Wed­nes­day, June 13, at 10 a.m. sharp. There are strict age lim­its for Sports Day.

SPORTS DAY RULES - Each school is re­spon­si­ble for the su­per­vi­sion and safety of their own par­tic­i­pants and sup­port­ers.

N.B. Run­ning shoes must be worn for all track events. No foot­ball boots, spikes or run­ning shoes with spikes re­moved are per­mit­ted for th­ese track events.

Com­peti­tors must be un­der 8, 9, etc. on Jan­uary 1, 2018.

Long Puck, Long Kick, Long Jump and Ball Throw con­tests for girls are sep­a­rate from boys.

In the Long Kick event the ball is kicked from a dead ball po­si­tion or from hand. Dis­tance wins.

In the Long Puck event the ball is hit from the hands or from the ground. Dis­tance wins. Hel­mets must be worn.

Com­peti­tors may have three at­tempts in th­ese events.

In sec­tion 1 (Track) a com­peti­tor may com­pete in one event and the re­lay race.

In sec­tion 2 (Field) a com­peti­tor may com­pete in one event only.

A com­peti­tor may not com­pete in both sec­tions.

Medals will be pre­sented af­ter each fi­nal.

Each school is re­spon­si­ble for their own lit­ter. Please bring lit­ter bags.
