Eleven clubs to battle it out for coveted awards

ELEVEN different clubs will battle it out for the manager and player awards at this year’s Tommy Earls Awards night which will take place on June 29th.

Arklow United, Ashford Rovers, Glencormac United and Newtown United dominate the nomination­s with at least five in contention each.

The Overal Player of the Year gong pits Jamie Kelly (St. Peter’s FC), Evan Moran (Newtown United), Nathan Watters (Glencormac United) and Danny Byrne (Ashford Rovers) against each other and three of those will be cheering on their respective managers, as Gary Kelly/Trevor O’Brien (Newtown), Clifton Conyard/Liam Carthy (Ashford) and Colm Mulligan/ Damien Griffin (Glencormac) contest the Overall Manager of the Year award.

Other clubs hoping for success will be Avonmore FC (three nomination­s), St. Peters’ FC (two nomimation­s), Conary United (two nomination­s) plus Dearg Celtic, Carnew and Wicklow Town (all one nomination each).

The Young Player of the Year will see Dillon Carthy (Newtown), Sam O’Callaghan (Glencormac), Oisin McGraynor (Avonmore) and Dean Flood-Hayes (Arklow) go head-to-head.

There will - as always - be a number of other awards given out to the footballin­g family and other athletes in Co. Wicklow.

Overall Player of the Year: Liam Carthy (Ashford Rovers), Colm Mulligan/Damien Griffin (Glencormac United).

Andy McEvoy Premier 1 Player of the Year: Ross Davis (Newtown United), Cillian Gilligan (Carnew AFC), Danny Byrne (Ashford Rovers).

Andy McEvoy Premier 1 Manager of the Year: Gary Kelly/ Trevor O’Brien (Newtown United), Clifton Conyard/Liam Carthy (Ashford Rovers), Shane Greene (St. Peter’s FC).

Pat O’Toole Division 1B Player of the Year: Adam Browne (St. Patrick’s AFC), David O’Neill (Arklow United), Nathan Watters (Glencormac United).

Pat O’Toole Division 1B Manager of the Year: Kevin Scanlon/ Neil McAnaspie (Arklow United), Colm Mulligan/Damien Griffin (Glencormac United), Brendan Dunne (St. Patrick’s AFC).

Division 3 Player of the Year: Dean Flood-Hayes (Arklow United), Stephen Roche (Conary United), Paddy Murphy (Wicklow Town AFC).

Division 3 Manager of the Year: Keith Stafford (Dearg Celtic), Eddie Roche (Conary United), Stephen Free/Ger Earls/Mark Nolan (Arklow United).

Young Player of the Year: Dillon Carthy (Newtown United), Sam O’Callaghan (Glencormac United), Oisin McGraynor (Avonmore FC), Dean Flood-Hayes (Arklow United).

John Tobin Youth Player of the Year: Oisin McGraynor (Avonmore FC), Jamie Byrne (Ashford Rovers), Conor Blayney (Arklow United).
