Theft and drugs case

-

A DUBLIN man has his case adjourned until December for review when he appeared before Judge Alan Mitchell at last Wednesday’s sitting of Arklow District Court.

Francis Gavin (31), Newtown Court Campsite, Old Belcamp Lane, Coolock, Dublin 17, was charged with theft of goods worth €209.88 from Mr Price in Arklow and having drugs at Tesco car park on August 5, 2017.

The court heard there was a probation report before the court and defending counsel said that there was certain background information in the report which led to a very traumatised teenage life for Gavin which in turn led to drugs. However, he said, Gavin is now drug free.

Inspector Ronan Lawlor said Gavin has more than 60 previous convictions.

Judge Mitchell said that the probation report recommended that Gavin be placed on a probation bond. He remanded Gavin to Arklow District Court on December 12 for review.
