THERE was great day of celebration at the Arklow Scout Den at the weekend as the annual awards ceremony took place. Over 40 club members attended the ceremony which saw awards presented to each of the groups by their section leaders. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Rovers were all represented on the day and supported by their family members.

An array of excellent achievements were acknowledged and the success of the group so far this year was reflected upon.

A special thanks was extended to organiser Majella Myler for all her hard work throughout the year and Cathal Condren presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

‘It was a great day and everyone got together to enjoy themselves,’ said Majella who congratulated all the award winners.

‘Well done to all the beavers, cubs, scouts, ventures, rovers and scouters that made Sunday a great group day. Thanks to the parents that attended the award ceremony and to Helena for her help in the galley and to Sharon and Vincent for their help with the barbecue,’ Majella added.

After the awards ceremony, a family fun day got underway with a variety of activities for the scouts followed by a refreshments.

The Arklow Sea Scouts look forward to a busy summer season ahead full of exciting outings and challenges.
