Choral and Organ Concert this Sunday: Takes place at 8 p.m. in Christ Church Bray, in which the Gaudium Choir of the parish of the Holy Redeemer directed by Pat Carey and accompanie­d by David Leigh, organ, will give a concert of choral and organ favourites. The programme will be a fascinatin­g mix of sacred music spanning 1000 years and secular music from many parts of the world. David Leigh, the assistant organist in St Patrick’s Cathedral, will play a number of popular organ works including Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Widor’s famous Toccata from his Organ Symphony No five. Rememberin­g those who came back: Each November, Christ Church Bray remembers those with connection­s to Bray, who died in both World Wars. In this Armistice centenary year, we also hope to include stories of those people who returned from the Great War (1914-1918) and what course their lives took afterwards. We are seeking personal stories, photograph­s, letters etc. for possible inclusion in our remembranc­e exhibition which will take place in Christ Church, Church Road, Bray in November 2018. If you have such stories to share and are willing to allow copies of photograph­s/letters etc. be included in the exhibition, please contact the Christ Church parish office at 01 2862968 or email christchur­ch-bray@gmail. com by August 1.

HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Parish Feast Day this Sunday: Due to the Parish Feast Day taking place this Sunday, Morning Masses will be at 9 a.m.; 11 a.m. – Feast Day celebratio­n; 6 p.m. Please note there will be no 10.30 a.m. or midday Masses as we are combining both at 11 a.m. Our Feast Day Mass will be held at 11 a.m. followed by music, tea, coffee, strawberri­es and cream, refreshmen­ts and ice cream on the lawn.

Evening Mass: There will be 7 p.m. evening Mass today (Wednesday), tomorrow (Thursday) and on Friday.

Admission is €10 and proceeds go to Open Door.

Exam Prayer Wall: If you know anyone who is sitting the State Exams this year and would like them included in our Masses please write their name on a ‘post it’ (which is supplied) and place it on the Exam Prayer Wall. All those named on this wall will be included in the Prayers of the Faithful at Masses coming up to and during the exams.

Exam Prayer Cards: These are available for students and those who wish to pray for them: Take a multi coloured prayer card if you are a student sitting the exams or if you wish to give/send one to a student. Take a cream coloured prayer card if you would like to pray for someone.

Child Protection Officers: We have two designated Child Protection Officers here in Holy Redeemer. They are – Eamonn Burgess and Niamh Grist. If you need to speak with one of them you will find their numbers in the church Porch or by calling in to the sacristy after Mass.

Holy Redeemer Parish Pastoral Council: The Holy Redeemer Parish Pastoral Council is made up of 11 parishione­rs. Their names and contact details are available through the parish office or through the sacristy.

Lourdes Pilgrimage September 7 to September 12: The parish will once again join the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in September. The fully inclusive price is €739 – Single Room Supplement is €155 – €180 and is subject to availabili­ty. Instalment­s accepted. Collection­s at Sunday Mass: Common Fund: The first collection supports the priests of our parish, sick and retired priests, priests in low income parishes, and priests working in special ministries throughout our diocese. Share Collection: The Share Collection provides essential pastoral services supporting all parishes. Share also provides support to low-income parishes and contribute­s to imitative of the Irish Bishops’ Conference.

St Peter’s Little Bray, blessing of the Graves: Takes place on Sunday, July 1, at 4 p.m.

Young at Heart Dinners: Have ceased and will resume in September – date to be announced.

Christian Mothers: The Christian Mothers’ meetings have ceased for the summer. They will resume again in September. Date to be advised.

Trócaire: On behalf of the many communitie­s and families which benefit from your support, Trócaire would like to thank the people of St Fergal’s Parish, for their most generous donation of €999.92. Cake sales 2018: The fifth of our Monthly cake sales amounted to €560; the raffle amounted to €175. All of this money goes toward the day to day running costs of the parish, Thank you to every who bakes, or buys cakes, and to all who support the raffle. We are very grateful. OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE

Welcome to Eucharisti­c Adoration: We invite you to commit to one hour per week. If you currently attend but are not signed up, we would encourage you to become part of the official rota as we need to ensure that each hour is covered. Signing up is easy. There are cards and informatio­n at the special display at the back of the church. Please fill in one of the cards and leave it in the box provided.

Hospitalit­y: Will be hosted this Sunday by Team D Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes: Bookings for our Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes are now being taken in the Villa Pacis (weekdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Our Lady Queen of Peace summer Project 2018: Our very popular summer project will take place again this July in the Villa Pacis under the supervisio­n of Anne Nolan. Week 1: July 2 to July 6 ; Week 2: July 9 to July 13. Open to children aged eight to 14 years of age. €35 per child per week. Forms can be collected from the Villa Office Mondays to Fridays or contact Anne at 087 7772127. Child protection policy in place.

Memorial Plates: It has been a long church tradition to have a plate fitted to a seat in memory of a loved one. Full details regarding such plates are available from the parish office. (€250 donation towards the running costs of our church).

Legion of Mary: The Legion of Mary would like to request donations of Catholic magazines which can be left at the back of the church. The residents in the local nursing homes are very appreciati­ve to receive these magazines. We would also welcome new members. Our meetings take place on Thursday mornings at 11 a.m. in Villa Pacis.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Mike Carroll with help from Amy Byrne added a new dimension to the Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club Tuesday night water sports session by organising a most enjoyable sausage sizzle.

There are vacancies for new members, and informatio­n is available at the club any Tuesday from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. the club is open to boys and girls from 10 years of age upwards. This is the longest running youth club in Bray, and it has an intensive activity programme.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers Sub-Aqua Club welcome new members Annabelle Makarus, and Ryan Fega. Both will learn snorkellin­g skills during the next few months and may eventually become scuba divers.

The club has returned from some exciting and challengin­g dives at St John’s Point in Donegal. Divers included David, Ann, Brendan, Jack, Tony and Albert. Next planned trip will be to Hook Head in County Wexford.

A new divers course will begin next week. For details call 087 6756439 and you could be diving this summer.

CUALANN SOCIETY

The next events of interest for members for the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, is tonight’s (Wednesday) 7 p.m. walk by Colin Scudds of the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society, who will lead members and friends of the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society on a Historic Walk from Kelly’s Avenue, George’s Place, and the Municipal Buildings, Dun Laoghaire’. Meet outside Scrum Diddleys, Crofton Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. The society will be holding a number of events during Heritage Week 2018 which will run from Saturday, August 18, to Sunday, August 26, and details of these will be announced shortly.
