Entrepreneur award for Enniskerry pupils

- By MARY FOGARTY

CHILDREN from St Mary’s and St Gerard’s in Enniskerry were shortlisted for three national awards, and won the National Creative Pioneers Award, at the Junior Entrepreneur Programme.

The children took part in the programme alongside 12,000 children from nearly 500 schools.

Their project, Perfect Presents, involved the creation of bespoke gifts with personal messages.

At the first ever JEP National Showcase Day in the RDS last Monday, the children joined 3,500 children from 140 schools representing every county in Ireland to showcase their project.

The children from Ms MAlone’s 5th Class enjoyed working on the project very much, and going to the RDS for the event.

Aligned with the primary school curriculum, the programme enables primary school children to explore the world of business, convert their ideas into commercial opportunities and discover the thrill of business, while also building confidence, developing skills in problem-solving, presentation and teamwork.

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme is enrolling now for the new school year starting in September 2018. Go to juniorentrepreneur.ie to sign up.
