Delgany gets a lesson in using defibrillator
DELGANY Community Council held a life-saving demonstration last week in the Horse and Hound. There was a good turnout at the free defibrillator demonstration.
The purpose of the evening was to show people how to access the equipment and how to use it for resuscitation. Organisers hope that this will give people the confidence to use the defibrillator in the event of an emergency situation.
The Delgany village defibrillator is located beside Farrelly’s Butchers.
Sixteen members of the community attended the event, which was organised by Laili de Buitlear. Willy O’Connor of the Red Cross gave the demonstration. He covered the basics of what to do in an emergency, and how to tell if a person needs CPR.
The defibrillator is maintained and services by Greystones First Responders.
Some of the people who attended were new to first aid, while others had done some training and were refreshing their skills. Some of those said first aid protocol has changed over the years.
