Under-14 girls - Our under-14 girls squad trained on Tuesday and had a friendly on Thursday evening at home against a strong team from Kill. We were short players due to holidays and injuries but still had 21 players available.

Kill started the game strongly and took some quick scores but our girls settled and got back in to the game and were only down two points at half-time.

The team started much stronger in the second half and a strong defence with some great passing movements up-field led to some great scores from Sadhbh, Juliette and Kayleigh, and our girls ended up winning on a scoreline of Blessington 4-11, Kill 4-05.

Under-12 girls – Our under-12 girls White team had their last home league game on Tuesday, June 19, against Ashford. Although we lost 3-3 to 2-2, the girls put on an excellent second half against the wind. We were especially impressed with the girls battling blocking and support play and they should be proud of their league campaign with one game remaining.

Special mention to our strong leaders on the pitch tonight: Eilis Reid, Aoife Kinsella, Abbie O’Riordan, Asia Duggan, Emma Carpenter, Michaela Garvey and Clodagh Nugent.

Also, a big well done to all the new girls on the panel. Scorers: Abbie O’Riordan 2-0 Asia Duggan 0-1 Clodagh Nugent 0-1. Thanks a mil to Sken and Macaris for the food afterwards and to the mammies for helping in the kitchen. Under-12 girls White away against Clan na Gael on Thursday at 7.30pm.

Academy – On Saturday, the Blessington GAA Academy hosted a Festival of Fun for all children aged 4 - 6 years of age. It was a glorious hot day and we had a great turn out from the children along with some surprise guests.

The coaches organised fun and games for the children with their parents and then watched a mini exhibition match played by some members of the Blessington GAA Senior men and ladies teams.

After that they were split into teams where they played some games themselves and were managed on the day by those members of the Senior men’s and ladies teams all under the watchful eye of Senior men’s Manager, Paddy O’Connor.

After that there were some more games which involved a large jockey back race and some chasing from the parents and coaches. The coaches had organised two surprises on the day for all the children, which both equally went down a treat. The Sam Maguire Cup managed to find its way from Dublin for a few hours and was present at the end of the event for photo opportunities for all the children as well as a well-earned ice cream to help them cool down.

The Academy coaches would like to especially thank the Senior men’s team who turned up for the event, thelLadies Senior team who send members each week and to all the parents and children who turned up on the day to make it such a memorable day for the club.
