A World Cup charity five-a-side tournament took place last week at Shoreline in Bray, in aid of the Shauna Kavanagh Founation.

The day included a raffle, as well as a keg of McGettigan’s beer for the winners.

There was a prize giving and celebration afterwards at McGettigan’s for all of the participants.

The winning team on the day was captained by Ciaran Wallace. There were over 100 participants in the tournament, spread out over 12 competing teams, and over €1,200 was raised.

The top prize in the raffle was two tickets to the All-Ireland hurling final.

There was a wonderful atmosphere on the day, with the late Shauna remembered at the event held in her honour.

All of the funds raised will benefit charities in the fields of Cystic fibrosis research, Helping The Homeless and Organ Donation. Shauna, who had cystic fibrosis, died unexpectedly last October. She is survived by her husband Paddy, her parents Brendan and Anne, her brother Dylan, all of her family members and many friends.
